Our Ministries; Our Story
Our five District Ministries work in partnership with churches and their members, providing support, training, guidance, education, and mentorship to help them navigate processes that strengthen and sustain their foundation of faith.

Atlantic Northeast District Ministry Commissions
Church Development Commission
We are committed to church planting, rebirth, and revitalization of existing congregations by connecting and resourcing time, talent and treasures of all District congregations.
Ministry Commission
ANE’s District Ministry Commission is at the core of district ministry. The District Ministry Commission is responsible for credentialing ministers – Licensing and Ordaining – through supervision of: ministry preparation and training; financial aid for ministry education; Readiness for Ministry testing and evaluation; mentoring; continuing education; ministerial ethics; and, in cooperation with the District Executive, general issues related to Pastoral Placement.
Nurture Commission
The Nurture Commission shall provide opportunities and encouragement for Christian education within the congregations of the Atlantic Northeast District of the Church of the Brethren. The commission shall also facilitate, support and advocate for the spiritual, emotional, physical and relational health and vitality of the district’s congregations.
Stewardship Commission
Stewardship is a lifestyle – a journey.
Stewardship is not just about managing money to facilitate God’s mission.
Witness & Outreach Commission
To encourage and network with congregations to proclaim the love and power of God, the Gospel of Christ, and the work of the Holy Spirit through the witness of the faith and outreach to our communities and world. We join hands with congregations to faithfully love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength and to love our neighbor as ourselves (Luke 10:27).
Women's Fellowship
Our Women's Ministry is vibrant and impactful. We invite you to participate in one of their two district-wide events: Spring Fellowship, typically held in March, and Women's Camp at Camp Swatara, an overnight gathering in August.
Older Adults
Our dynamic and engaged Older Adult Group organizes two annual events: a Spring Luncheon and a Fall Coffee House. Additionally, every other year, they encourage participation in the National Older Adult Conference, offering opportunities for connection and enrichment.
Youth
District youth programs are offered year-round, both within the ANE District and through the Denomination, providing valuable opportunities for young people to connect with peers and build meaningful relationships.
Hispanic and Latino Ministries
The ANE District is comprised of a variety of ethnicities, including a growing Hispanic and Latino segment. We have vibrant congregations or fellowships in several cities within our region. If you would like to find one of these churches in your area, contact the district office.
Disaster Relief
The Atlantic Northeast District (ANE) partners with Brethren Disaster Ministries (BDM) to support disaster response efforts. Congregations are encouraged to send volunteer groups, large or small, for a week at any of BDM's active sites. ANE's Disaster Response Coordinator is available to assist in coordinating and facilitating your group's participation.
To volunteer, please contact Ed Olkowski, ANE District Disaster Coordinator by phone (302) 540-0920 or by email.
